Whitney Museum of American Art

As the preeminent institution devoted to the art of the United States, the Whitney Museum of American Art presents the full range of twentieth-century and contemporary American art, with a special focus on works by living artists. The Whitney is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting American art, and its collection—arguably the finest holding of twentieth-century American art in the world—is the Museum's key resource.

The Garcia Family Foundation supports the Hélio Oiticica: To Organize Delirium exhibition which is the first full-scale U.S. retrospective in two decades of the Brazilian artist’s work. One of the most original artists of the twentieth century, Oiticica
(1937—1980) made art that awakens us to our bodies, our senses, our feelings about being in the world: art that challenges us to assume a more active role.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met presents over 5,000 years of art spanning all cultures and time periods. Today, art comes alive in the Museum’s galleries and through its exhibitions and events across three locations—The Met Fifth Avenue, The Met Breuer, and The Met Cloisters—revealing both new ideas and unexpected connections across time and cultures.

The Garcia Family Foundation supports The Met Annual Appeal, used to expand access to the collection, enabling even more people to experience the power and potential of art. The Foundation also supports The Met Family Benefit, proceeds of which support the Museum’s general operating fund, making possible a robust slate of education initiatives.

At The Met Breuer, the Museum’s newest location for modern and contemporary art located on Madison Avenue at 75th Street, The Foundation is proud to support “Lygia Pape: A Multitude of Forms,” on view March 21–July 23, 2017. It is the first monographic exhibition in the United States devoted to Brazilian multimedia artist Lygia Pape (1927–2004).
